Dara is an Emmy-nominated showrunner and director with over two decades of experience. She thrives exploring new places and perspectives, and telling compelling stories that engage, entertain, and maybe have even just a tiny bit of positive impact.
Dara has filmed on six continents, most recently hopping between far flung locations including the top of an Icelandic volcano, a remote Brazilian cassava farm, and the wild streets of Green Bay, Wisconsin while directing and executive producing the 6-part CNN food/travel series Tony Shalhoub Breaking Bread. She has also led and/or directed series for Netflix (Sprint, Worn Stories, Ugly Delicious, Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, Chelsea), Amazon Sports (Surf Girls), and Disney+. Her work focuses on character-driven narratives rooted in diverse worlds and topics including sports, culture, food and travel. Alongside many series, her career has included branded work, as well as features and shorts in collaboration with various award-winning documentarians. In addition to developing her own projects, Dara has worked with companies like A24, Boardwalk Pictures and MakeMake Entertainment in early phases of shaping and pitching new material.
Whether capturing the stories of A-list celebrities or highlighting equally amazing, utterly un-famous people, Dara appreciates authenticity, humor, prime lenses and a good window seat. She holds US and Canadian passports.
